Ever since the babies were born, I have wanted them to experience the rain. We have scurried through the rain with strollers and they have heard it pattering on the windows outside, but they had never truly been part of it. I took them each outside, one at a time, in the pouring rain and let them just feel it. We wore jackets with hoods. People driving by may have thought I was nuts standing with my toddler in the pouring rain, but we had fun. They were thrilled to feel the rain coming down and I was equally excited to see the rain through their eyes.
Grayson looked around
wide eyed at the water wonderland.
Capri enjoyed her real raincoat from Grandma and Grandpa
as she wandered in the rain.
Xayden observed the water falling from the sky
and pointed to the rainy river rushing down the street.
Ryder loved the freedom of being outside
taking in the rain.
After we experienced the rain outside, came inside and got dry, we listened to the new sound of thunder as it shook the house. Each clap of thunder was identified and the babies smiled at their newfound knowledge. Have you gone outside with your kids in the pouring rain? What have your families been doing lately? I would love to hear your stories and ideas. As always, comments are welcome.
