We were excited to check out Adventure City in Anaheim, California for the first time. We found out about it after reading Nicole’s review on Adventure City on 365 Days of Pinterest. It seemed like the perfect theme park for the Sugar Snaps. When we arrived, it looked smaller than we thought it would be from the outside. We wondered if there would be enough to keep them entertained.
We did not need to wonder for long. It is known as the “Little Theme Park That’s Big on Family Fun” and their motto describes it well. There is a train that takes your family around Adventure City so you can decide what rides you want to try first. Since the Sugar Snaps love trains, this was the perfect place to start. They beamed with excitement as they rode around on the train. It was fun for us too to see the park and check out the pretty water features.
Once the train came back into the station, we exited right next to another train ride. This one is powered by kids turning a wheel to make it go. I love the idea of a ride that actually gives them some exercise too! They had so much fun that we went on the ride again later in our day!
There was a cute petting zoo. Petting zoos are always a hit with the Sugar Snaps who love to meet new animal friends. They enjoyed gently brushing their fur. There is also a chicken house where you can purchase food to feed the chickens .
After going on several rides, including the Carousel, it was time to get some lunch. There is no outside food or drink allowed in the park outside of baby bottles. You are welcome to bring a picnic lunch and eat it on the picnic tables on the grounds just outside of Adventure City gates or to purchase food there. We opted to buy lunch. We were pleasantly surprised by the healthy options on the menu. We all enjoyed the fruit and veggies and also had the less healthy but tasty nachos. I loved their frozen lemonade which was so refreshing on a warm day.
One ride that the Sugar Snaps especially loved was the Rescue 911 ride. They ‘drove’ fire engines and police cars around a track, complete with sirens and calls for rescue that came over the loudspeaker. There was also a section after you exit the ride where children can try on firefighter outfits. There were police and fire badges on display too.
After we had been walking around for a while, the Sugar Snaps were feeling pretty warm. So, we headed to the Rain Room.
Once the Sugar Snaps had cooled off, it was time to play in the Thomas the Tank Engine play area. There were boxes of train tracks and countless Thomas the Tank Engine magnetic trains to connect. They could be used on the train table or on the floor for tons of imaginative fun.
We could see that the Sugar Snaps were getting tired after we spent close to four hours at Adventure City, so it was time to head home. The boys fell asleep before we left the parking lot and Capri lasted another twenty minutes and then she was out too!

This place sounds great and my son would love ut
Hi Petrita.
It was a lot of fun for the Sugar Snaps. I imagine your son would have a blast too! There is something about kids and trains and there are so many fun train activities at Adventure City.

This looks like a great alternative to Disneyland or
Knott's . My four year old is a bit small, so he can't go on a lot of rides there. This would be perfect for him.

I love that this place is only for younger kids.
Hi Boyzrule.
It is perfect for the preschool age child. The rides are designed for them and they make the majority of rides for adults to ride with children which is great. I think your 4 year-old would love it.
