We have been cutting Grayson and Ryder’s hair for a while now. We were afraid to cut Xayden’s curls as we had heard that they may be gone forever. I took all four of the Sugar Snaps with me to get Ryder and Grasyon’s hair cut. Xayden started to say “Xayden’s turn” from his seat in the stroller and I felt bad that I did not have my camera as I document all first haircuts. I also was unsure as to whether I was ready to take the plunge. I spoke with the hair stylist who assured me that he would not lose his curls as they were curly right next to the root, a sign that they are here to stay. I booked an appointment with her in a couple of days and ventured out with just Xayden and my camera as it was Greg’s day off.
Cutting the Curls
Xayden contemplated his curls in the mirror
then watched intently as they fell to the floor.
In the end, he seemed pleased with the results and charmed by his stylist.
I love the way the sunlight captured his new smaller curls.
I was so relieved when his curls bounced right back after his haircut. They reappear each time we wash his hair. At least for now, his curls are here to stay. What are your experiences with first haircuts? I’d love to hear from you. As always, comments are welcome.
My daughter just went through this with my grandson and it also was the same turn out. He just looked like cute little boy without his wispy baby hair. I have to say his second hair cut didn't go so greta for some reason she cut a chunk out of his hair above his ear and chopped his bangs. Not so impressed even though he is so cute it didn't matter, but his Momma was not happy. She said that he was as still as could be so I'm not sure what the reason was but it will continue to grow back, just not sure he will return there for another hair cut. We shall see. I love all his curls and love the smile he has while getting his cute.
Yeah Xayden kept his curls! His new do is super cute! XO
Thank you Tammie.
I'm glad your grandson's first haircut went well. I'm sorry to hear about his second one. I think most of us have bad haircuts at some point in life…either as a child or an adult. I know I've had a few. I would be disappointed if that happened to our little ones too. Hopefully your daughter will find a hair salon she likes better for your grandson.

Thank you Leanne.
We are relieved that his curls have stayed. It is even curlier than it looks in the pictures after his baths. It kinks right up.

Hi, I am sure that she will find another if she doesn't decide to give them a second chance. I told her that like you said we all have had a haircut or two that we didn't care for. You are such a lucky Momma to have 4 beautiful little children, as I read your blog I can only imagine the fun times that you have daily.
Hi Tammie.
I hope your grandson's next haircut is a good one. Yes, I do feel like a lucky Mama having four energetic and sweet little ones to keep me busy and entertained. They are a huge blessing and we are very grateful to have them.

Taking the first haircut plunge is hard. I hated cutting my son's curls (they didn't come back) but it was time.
The cut turned out adorable!
Thank you Sarah.
Yes, it is scary to take the plunge. It seems like about half of the people I have talked to said the curls did not come back. I do not know if Xayden's will always come back…or if we lucked out this time. But, as you said, it was time. We were not going to wait for it to get longer and frizzier…
