Our kids love nursery rhymes. We did nursery rhyme themed costumes for Little Bo Peep and Hey Diddle Diddle. This time, I decided to have us explore Star Light, Star Bright as it is one of my favorites from childhood. Kids look so cute in homemade headbands. For this nursery rhyme, we made a star headband.
I Wish I may, I Wish I Might-Star Headband Craft
You will need:
- Free Printable Star (or make your own by tracing a cookie cutter onto yellow paper)
- Black construction paper
- Craft stick
- Scissors
- Tape (optional)
- White Glue
- Stapler
- Glitter (optional)
- Black marker (optional)
Fold the black paper in half lengthwise, then fold it in half again lengthwise. Cut along the folds. You can either make one or two head bands per sheet. You need two black strips which can be stapled together to fit the child’s head. If you are using glitter, have the child add a little glue and glitter to the star before it is cut out. Then, once dry, cut out the star. If desired, color the craft stick black. Otherwise, you could leave it plain or use a dark colored craft stick. Tape or glue the star to the craft stick on the back side. Then staple or tape it to the headband. If you wish to hide the staples, you can cover with an additional black strip of paper which can be glued on to mask the staples. That’s it! These headbands are a lot of fun to wear while reciting the nursery rhyme.

My almost 3 yr old would love this. Thanks for sharing with us all.

Hi Charlene.
This is great any time of year, but with cold weather, it can inspire lots of imaginary play at home. All four of ours made these, 3 boys and a girl.
