On Mother’s Day morning, I awoke to the music of the babies babbling contentedly, beckoning me to greet them. My mother made delicious cinnamon muffins while my dad and husband made scrambled eggs and prepared fresh fruit. After a taste of raspberry champagne and play time with the babies, we headed to my aunt and uncle’s house for lunch.
Their Mother’s Day table was beautiful.
I have always cut the babies’ food into small bites. I know they are ready to transition to bigger bites, but it is a little scary for me. My cousin, Ashley, who has a son the same age as the babies convinced me that they were ready for slices of watermelon. I took the plunge and let them try it. They were thrilled. Then my aunt decided that they should enjoy cupcakes and enjoy they did.
Xayden had a two-fisted approach to his watermelon
while Capri concentrated on one piece at a time.
Grayson started out neat and tidy
and then got messier
and messier.
Ryder wore his cupcake all over his face
before getting cleaned up and cuddling with cousin Reid.
Then, cousin Ashley introduced Xayden to the pool
and Grandma enjoyed watching the kids in the water.
Capri played with a yellow ring
while Reid and Grayson splashed around.
Cousin Ireland enjoyed a toss in the air from her Dad
as Ryder sat on the steps and watched.
It was a wonderful Mother’s Day spent with family. For those of you who have read our story, you know that simply being a mother, for me, is the most incredible gift of all. I used to have a tinge of sadness each Mother’s Day as we struggled to start our family. Now, I appreciate the symphony of the babies’ voices and bask in the warmth of their smiles. I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I would love to hear your stories. As always, comments are welcome.
Happy mother's day girl. Sorry I couldn't join in on the linky fun but I was out of town and my posts were scheduled. I promise to join in next week. Have a blessed weekend
