If your kids need some reminders about these concepts, here are some examples of conjunctions, prepositions and interjections. An easy way for them to remember interjections is by reminding them that they are something that is said that can stand alone with a period or exclamation point, such as, “Oh my!”. Conjunctions are used to connect words while a preposition is a word or phrase that connects a noun or pronoun to a verb or adjective in a sentence.
Conjunctions examples:
- and
- but
- for
- nor
- or
- so
- yet
Prepositions examples:
- above
- across
- against
- along
- around
- before
- behind
- in
- into
- near
- off
- over
- toward
- under
- with
- without
Interjections examples:
- Aha!
- Congratulations!
- Hmm.
- Eek!
- Goodness.
- Oh dear.
- Oh yes!
- Phew.
- Yikes!
