I was photographing the babies running around on the grass at a park when Capri began walking and then running towards me. Even though the camera was in front of my face, she burst into a run with her arms outstretched to give me a hug.
Capri walked along and watched her footing
and then she noticed me.
She began to pick up speed
until she broke into a run
with arms outstretched
and giggled with abandon
until I dropped my camera and melted into her embrace.
The hug of a toddler is rejuvenating to the soul. After I experienced this powerful hug, I wondered when I last ran towards someone I love, threw my head back and giggled while I gave them an incredible embrace. Sure, I hug the babies throughout the day but Capri reminded me how to really hug. One of the joys of being a Mom for me is when the babies teach me not to be such a grown up. I should giggle with abandon and hug like a toddler. I would love to hear from you. As always, comments are welcome.

They teach us as much as we teach them. And we can be weighed down by the mundane until they remind us that there is joy in the simplest of things.

I love toddler hugs and kisses! Just the other day I got a twin kiss, they kissed me on the cheek at the same time. I just melted :).
