We always bring books and things to keep the kids entertained on long car trips. It has been a challenge for them to balance things on their laps or to color without anywhere to store their crayons and markers. I was intrigued by the idea of travel trays and excited to have the opportunity to try out these Travel Trays from Brave Baby with our kids.

The travel trays come with a belt that goes around the waist and locks in place like a seat belt. This is nice because it keeps the tray in place and prevents it from falling. The first thing our kids did with the travel trays is use them as a reading surface. As you can see in the photo above, the top collapses down to make a bigger surface. The kids can also have the end raised to prevent things, such as a snack, from falling off of the tray. There is a cup holder which is convenient for holding a sippy cup or water bottle. We did not give them their cups right away or we’d be stopping for a restroom every half hour!
There is a great space on the side for an educational tablet or sketch book. This is much easier for the kids to reach than the pocket in the seat in front of them or on the seat next to them. On previous trips, they’ve dropped their tablets on the floor and were unable to retrieve them (as we won’t let them take off their seat belts to do so). The travel tray prevented this problem. Xayden liked to keep his side flap down so he could reach the markers more easily. Because he didn’t have it up, he managed to drop a couple of marker lids on the floor. Next time, I would stash a plastic bag in the side pocket so that if this happens, the markers won’t dry out or mark anything unintended before we can retrieve the lids.
When Capri was finished coloring, Ember decided to hop up and check out the new travel trays!
We look forward to using these trays for years to come. I wish I’d known about them when the kids were smaller as they also work with strollers. I think we will try them out in a doctor’s waiting room next. It would be nice for the kids to have surface to color on while they wait.
I would recommend these travel trays after our experience trying them out with our four kids. They would make a fun and unique gift as well.
